In the cold depths of space
Where a scream makes no sound
The good ship Nostromo
Was floating around.
Its belly was full of precious mineral ore
When it picked up a signal it hadn’t before
So it woke up the crew, with its coordinates fixed
And started its path to LV-426.
Down on the planet, horrid storms thrashed
And the search team found a ship that had crashed
And deep in the ship, were large leathery things
That Kane pointed out were “Like eggs, or something.”
Then onto his face
Did the creepy thing jump
And he fell to the floor
With a terrible bump.
The others dragged back Kane, with trouble and strife
And broke quarantine just to save their friend’s life.
Aboard the ship and back on their way home
Kane appeared lifeless, but never alone.
Then suddenly, just as quick as it started
The facehugger fled, and seemed to be thwarted
A feast was held before they went back on ice
But the uninvited guest just wasn’t so nice.
With a cough and a yell
And a red, meaty crack
The chest burster came out
And laid Kane on his back.
Its movements were swift, and it fled from the table
The rest of the crew knew they must catch it, if able
So they gathered in parties and started to hunt
Unaware that the beast was no longer a runt.
Brett was the next whom the creature struck at
All alone while he searched for poor Jonesy, the cat
The others did squabble over how it was to be beat
Captain Dallas made the call to turn up the heat.
With flame-thrower in hand
He crawled through the vent
But the alien was waiting
On his death it was bent.
The remaining four panicked, now all on the run
Ripley sought Mother for what could be done
But Mother’s dark answer just made her grief double
The alien’s the priority, “crew expendable.”
With the secret now out, Ash showed his true color
And with dirty mags, did Ripley he try to smother
But Parker knocked his head clean off of the shoulders
Revealing Ash was an android, all wire and solders.
Now with just three
The shuttle would take them
They gathered their resources
But t’was not the end of the mayhem.
On Parker and Lambert, the creature descended
With little mouth and tail, their lives it swiftly ended
Now only Ripley remained with the cat
The self-destruct was started, there was no turning back.
She ran like the wind to the shuttle and flew
The explosion behind her, a brilliant blue
She took a deep breath and thought she was clear
But the alien had stowed in the shuttle’s dark rear.
With one final chance
She suited up tight
And blasted the monster
Into space, out of sight.
And so our heroine, victorious at last
Could finally rest easy, and put this all in the past
The final words of this lady, so though
“This
is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo, signing off.”Story art (courtesy of @Cory_do_the_drau)
